Mission Statement
The goal of this grant program is to provide financial support that will enable doctoral students and post-doctoral scientists to pursue research careers in the environmental field, and in particular to those scientists interested in issues related to air pollution.

Grant Eligibility Requirements

Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the APERG program administered by the Mid-Atlantic States Section of the Air and Waste Management Association (MASS-A&WMA).  In the past, these awards for doctoral students or post-doctoral scientists in the geographic region serviced by MASS-A&WMA have been $25,000 each with a total of three to five awards made per year.  The APERG program has given out more than $825,000 to date and expects to continue generous support for many years to come.  As a further enhancement to our program, several schools in the MASS-A&WMA region have also agreed to offer students tuition remission if they are granted an APERG award.

About This Fund
The APERG program is funded by the Reuben and Alice Wasser A.P.C. Education and Research Charitable Remainder Unitrust.

Reuben Wasser's eminence in the field of air pollution control and environmental management continues to be widely recognized and appreciated many years after his death.  He had given many years of dedicated and meritorious service as Chairman and Treasurer of MASS-A&WMA. Alice Wasser, a registered nurse, also was active in the spouse's committee and was very supportive of the association.

Reuben always gave freely of his time, extensive talents, and his finances, to further education and research into the cause of environmental problems and understand their solutions.  Throughout his active life, he inspired students and co-workers at PSE&G Testing and Research Labs to achieve excellence in their graduate studies, research, and professional careers.

This APERG program exemplifies his commitment to education in the environmental field and his desire to remain anonymous demonstrates his exceptional qualities to give back with great humility.

As a visionary, the fullfillment of his dreams and everlasting legacy is to provide talented individuals the opportunity to reach their goals and contribute to knowledge, to the profession, and to society.
