2010 Presentations by Earth Day Grant Receipients
November Meeting, ENY Chapter AWMA
Students from the Tabernacle Christian Academy discussed their recent project.

The school purchased thermal leak detectors with their grant.  They then formed an “Energy SWAT Team” and searched for areas within the school where cold air was infiltrating.  A list of key areas for energy improvements was created, and presented to the school board.  The students themselves showed a high level of energy and enthusiasm as they outlined their project and efforts.

Two teachers from the Broadalbin-Perth school gave a presentation on their program, “No Child Left Inside”.

The goal of this project was to have upper class students create investigative science kits using recycled items.  The kits were then given to second grade students to help inspire interest in environmental science.  One of the tools in the kits was a rain gauge made from Gatorade bottles.
The ENY Chapter sponsors an Earth Day Grant program each year.  Donations from member companys and individuals are used to fund environmental projects in schools within the Chapter’s area.  Each year two schools are invited to share the work they’ve done at the regular November Chapter meeting.  This forum has proven to be a great opportunity both for the students to gain public speaking experience, and for the donors to see the benefit of their gifts.

If you would like to make a fully tax deductible donation, please contact Joe Farron, Chairperson, Education Committee,  j.farron@ctmale.com
